Itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati- Shillong (110 kms /3 hours)
- Meet and greet on arrival at the Guwahati Hotel . Later transfer to Shillong – capital of Meghalaya- the abode of clouds.. You can have a midway halt at Nongpoh to stretch your legs, for tea / coffee, snacks, fruits or food. On way visit the Umiam Lake. Thereafter transfer to Shillong Airport to pick up rest of the group members. Check in to your hotel in Shillong. Evening, visit the century old Wards Lake and Police Bazaar in Shillong. Night, stay in Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong – Cherrapunjee (64 kms / 2 hours) Cherrapunjee Holiday
- Today after Breakfast transfer to Cherrapunjee – The wettest place on Earth. The beautiful waterfall- Noh-ka-likai is at Cherrapunjee. You can also explore Eco Park, Seven Sister Falls, Cherrapunjee View Point and some of the caves in and around Cherrapunjee. En-route visit Elephant falls. Night, stay in Cherrapunjee.
Day 3: Hiking to Umkar Root Bridge (10 minutes walk) – Interaction with the Khasi Tribes
- Today after early breakfast transfer to Umkar Root Bridge. The Umkar Single-Decker Root Bridge is very easily accessible, making it perfect for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re traveling with elderly family members or young children, the path is manageable for everyone. From the main road, it’s just a 10-minute short trek to Umkar Root Bridge. Here we will arrange an interaction session with the locals of siej village. Night, stay in Cherrapunjee.
Day 4: Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong- Dawki ( 90 kms / 3 hours) Shillong
- After early breakfast drive to Mawlynnong- The cleanest village in Asia. Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred to as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living Root Bridge at a neighboring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. There after drive to Dawki, a small village near the Indo Bangladesh Border. Here you can do boating in the River Umngot. The crystal clear water of Umngot will remain as an everlasting memory throughout your life. Later transfer to Shillong. Night, stay.
Day 5: Shillong– Nagoan (5 hrs / 220 kms approx)
- Today after Breakfast transfer to Nagaon. On way visit the Rang Thali Village – know for its Assamese traditional jewelries. Will have the opportunity to interact with local villagers and can witness exclusive craftsmanship. Overnight stay at Nagaon.
Day 6: Nagaon – Kohima (5 hours/ 220 kms)
- Today after breakfast transfer to Kohima – the capital city of Nagaland. Check in to your Hotel. Night stay in Kohima.
Day 7: Kohima – Hornbill Festival
- After breakfast visit Kisama Village which is 12km from Kohima. The Heritage Village is designed in the form of an ancient Naga village to give an authentic feel of a true Naga village and the experience of traveling back in time. The gentle slope at the base of a steep mountain peak is the venue for the famed Hornbill Festival where you can witness fascinating and ethnic culture of the Nagas through this festival. You can also participate in the night carnival at Kohima where you can see people selling different items from Christmas decorations to chicken barbecue. This in fact is one of the most interesting aspects of the carnival, the entire street will be filled with lights and flooded with people. After the fun affair, head back to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 8: Kohima – Khonoma – Asias First Green Village – Hornbill Festival- Dimapur (70 kms / 02 hours)
- Today after Breakfast transfer to Khonoma village – only 15Km from Kohima. Khonoma famous for being Asia’s first green village and for its rich history as a warrior village. It is known for its sustainable practices, unique terraced farming, and its fierce resistance against the British during the colonial period. Later transfer to the Hornbill festival. You can witness fascinating and ethnic culture of the Nagas through this festival where you will spend the rest of the day witnessing folk songs, dances and locals wearing colourful traditional attire. You can also visit shops and pick up souvenirs as a memento. Later transfer to Dimapur. Night stay at Dimapur.
Day 9: Dimapur – Guwahati (260 kms – 5 to 6 hours)
- Today after Breakfast check out from the Hotel and transfer to Guwahati. On way visit the ruins of the Kachari Kingdom. Check in to your Hotel in Guwahati. Night stay
Day 10: Departure
- Tour ends, drop at Guwahati Airport.
